The season of sailing

As winter abates and spring arrives, what better way to welcome the new season than a week-long event sailing? After the Airlie Beach Race Week and the Hamilton Island Race Week, the Queensland Season of Sailing rounds out with the SeaLink Magnetic Island Race.

And what a beautiful way to end the season in the crystalline waters of Cleveland Bay.

Magnetic Island has been host to this sailing spectacular for 17 seasons now and this year, it all happens from August 29th to September 5th 2024.

Fun onshore too

But the week isn’t just about sailing. There is plenty to do with your feet on land too. The races dominate the days, but the evenings light up with live bands and social functions.

Even the yacht crews like to let loose at night so you could find yourself chatting, drinking, or even dancing with them.

With barbecues, parties, and events all week, there will be plenty to keep the entire family entertained.

Father’s day family fun

On the Sunday, head on out to Picnic Bay for the Annual Father’s Day festivities.

Get your hands on local produce or score some beautiful local art from the markets, dance your heart out or chill and relax to live music, enjoy the plethora of water activities, marvel at the sandcastle competition entrants, and cheer on your favourite competitor in the mud crab races.

There’s something for everyone, locals and visitors alike.

When you need a break from watching the races and partying up the nights, there is plenty on offer on Magnetic Island.
