The beautiful Magnetic Island has made headlines with its feature on the reality television show The Amazing Race Australia.
Viewers got a tempting taste this week of the stunning features on offer, when the Magnetic Island Amazing Race leg aired nationally.
Airing on 8 February, Leg 5 of the race saw contestants do the rounds of the island, starting at Nelly Bay before driving to Horseshoe Bay to find Beau Ryan. The fun continued as they all headed back towards Nelly Bay and Picnic Bay, engaging in a series of challenges. The Magnetic Island Amazing Race experience has everyone excited!
Filmed in secret last year, cast and crew quarantined before heading to the island, and the interest that The Amazing Race Australia has generated for Magnetic Island has been a great boost for the locals.
While the beauty of Magnetic Island had the visitors enraptured, they also found this particular part of the race to be one of the most physically gruelling.
For fans of the show, it was a bittersweet episode as they watched The Parents, Shane and Deb, made the difficult decision to leave the race due to Shane’s pre-existing knee injury.
You don’t need to be a contestant on a reality television show to enjoy the natural wonder that is Maggie Island. Tourism is back in swing again after a challenging 2020, and the welcoming arms of the island’s locals are open wide.
