Magnetic Island Community News was first established in 1989 as a printed newspaper. Although in mid 2020 the paper had a hiatus for a few months due to COVID-19, the local news is now available online right here at MCN.
Over those 31+ years owner, Editor-In-Chief, photographer and writer Debra Denison has seen and reported the many changes to Magnetic Island, as well as the colourful community which she calls her home.
The Magnetic Community News is widely regarded as an island icon by both residents and visitors alike. A team of local talented writers cover a variety of community stories, political, historical, local events, a weekly police column, a fishing column and local sporting events. The Magnetic Community News is out on the streets by lunchtime each Tuesday.
