St Patrick’s Day
Popular venues on Magnetic are expected to host Irish-themed events on St Patrick’s Day, which lands on Tuesday, 17 March.
- Marlin Bar: Celebrations will be aplenty with food and drink specials, plus prizes for ‘best dressed’ in green attire.
- Picnic Bay Hotel: Enjoy family-friendly traditional Irish music sessions and games like ‘Pick the lucky clover’.
- Nomads Magnetic Island: Join in lively parties with live music and Irish fare.
Magnetic Island Markets
Market seasons officially opens in March. There will be markets on every Sunday in March from about 9am to 2pm at the Horsehoe Bay Foreshore, Pacific Drive. Stalls feature locally made items including clothing, jewellery, art, plants, food, and there will be plenty of live music and even a beachside massage if you wish!
Magnetic Island Crafters
Here’s your opportunity to get involved in charity while on holiday! The group will meet every Wednesday in March from 9 to 11am at Uniting Chruch, Turnbridge Street, Nelly Bay. Participants create items for charity, like bravery teddies for the island clinic and wallaby bags for wildlife rescuers.
Golf Competitions
- 2026 Men’s Handicap Pennant: 21-22 March 2026. The Magnetic Island Country Club hosts this major event for Golf North Queensland.
- Thursday Social Golf & Mixed Competition: Held every Thursday, including March 19, 2026, with social play from 8am and a mixed competition from 12pm.
- Friday Social Golf & Fun Run Competition: Features social play all day and a 9-hole Stableford competition.
- Saturday Social 18 Hole Golf Comp: Held every Saturday afternoon from 12pm. Visitors with a registered handicap are welcome to join.
30th Magnetic International Cup
An amateur tennis tournament held annually at Amaroo on Mandalay, this year on Saturday 7 to Sunday 8 March. This tournament is open to all skill levels. The format includes doubles matches where partners are typically drawn on the day, with the traditional ‘most colourful outfit’ prize drawn on Saturday.
